What is Wave's military car shipping discount and who gets it?
If you're military, we take 10% off your car shipping quote.
The discount applies if you're a service member arranging your own Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) shipment: a routine move, a Permanent Change of Station (PCS), or any other personal reason to ship your car. We're a broker: we arrange your shipment and dispatch it to a vetted, licensed and insured carrier in our network, and we don't operate trucks ourselves. A military move is a type of customer, not a separate service. Your car ships on standard open transport by default, the same as most of our customers, with enclosed available as the exception for a high-value or collector vehicle. The 10% applies either way.

How much does military car shipping cost with the discount?
You pay the same base price as any other shipment on the same route and transport type, minus our 10% military discount off your live quote. There is no separate military price table, because a military move is a type of customer and not a different service.
Most military moves ship on standard open transport, same as most of our customers. See open car shipping for the reference ranges. Enclosed costs more on the same lane and is available for a high-value or collector vehicle; see enclosed car shipping for that option. Whichever you book, the 10% comes off your live quote at booking time, not off either page's reference range.
How do I book military car shipping with the discount, step by step?
Booking with the military discount follows our standard process, with 10% taken off the quoted price before the job is booked.

Self-arranged shipping and a government-funded vehicle move
A self-arranged shipment is booked and paid for by you, while an eligible government-funded vehicle move follows the official process connected to your orders.
| Planning factor | Self-arranged shipment | Government-funded move |
|---|---|---|
| Who arranges it | You request and approve the shipment directly. | The move follows the official process associated with your orders. |
| Who pays | You are responsible for the booking and payment. | Payment and eligibility are handled through the applicable government program. |
| Discount on this page | Wave's military discount applies to an eligible self-paid booking. | Wave's retail discount is not part of the official program. |
| Where to begin | Request a live quote with your route and vehicle details. | Start with the office or counselor responsible for your official move. |
When Wave's military car shipping discount is NOT the right choice
If you want your move funded entirely through the official government PCS program, that's arranged by a government-contracted Transportation Service Provider (TSP) or Personal Property counselor, not by us, and our self-pay discount doesn't apply to it.
A Permanent Change of Station move ships two different ways: through the government's own funded process, where a TSP handles your Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) under military orders, or self-arranged and self-paid, where you book directly with a company like us and get our 10% off that booking. We're not affiliated with, approved by, or endorsed by the Department of Defense, and we're not a Transportation Service Provider on any approved-carrier or TMO list. See what a POV is for the full distinction before you choose one.
What we do and don't do for military car shipping
We give military personnel 10% off their own car shipment, and we don't claim any government affiliation, approval, or endorsement.
Military car shipping FAQs
- Does Wave Auto Transport offer a military discount?
Yes. We give military personnel 10% off car shipping, taken off your live quoted price.
- How much will I save with the military discount?
10% of your live, current quoted price. It is not a fixed dollar amount. Request a quote to see the exact figure for your vehicle, distance, and transport type before the discount is applied.
- What is a POV in military car shipping?
POV stands for Privately Owned Vehicle: your own car, as distinct from government-owned equipment. See what a POV is for the full definition and how a government-funded PCS move differs from a self-arranged shipment like the one this page describes.
- Is Wave Auto Transport an approved military Transportation Service Provider (TSP)?
No. We're not affiliated with, approved by, or endorsed by the Department of Defense, and we're not a Transportation Service Provider on any government approved-carrier or TMO list. The 10% discount on this page is our own retail offer, separate from the government-funded PCS program.
- Can I use Wave's military discount for a PCS move?
Yes, if you're arranging and paying for the shipment yourself rather than going through the government-funded PCS program run by a Transportation Service Provider. If your move is funded entirely through official orders and a TSP, that's a different, government-arranged process. See what a POV is for the TSP-vs-self-paid distinction.
- Does the military discount apply to enclosed transport as well as open transport?
Yes. Most military moves ship on open transport, the default, lower-cost service. See open car shipping for that process and its reference ranges. Enclosed is available too, usually chosen for a high-value vehicle (see enclosed car shipping), and the 10% applies to your live quote either way.
- How does military car shipping work step by step?
It follows our standard process: quote with the discount mentioned, discount applied, carrier matched for open or enclosed, then pickup and delivery inspection. The 10% comes off the quoted price before the job is booked. See how it works for the full sequence.
- Can my spouse or a family member release the vehicle?
Yes. Any adult the owner authorizes, a spouse or family member included, can release the vehicle at pickup, and the page on whether you need to be there for car shipping pickup covers who qualifies and what that person signs.
- Can I ship my car to an overseas duty station?
No. Wave Auto Transport arranges car shipping within the continental United States only, so it does not arrange a car's move to or from an overseas duty station, Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico. The page on what a POV is explains which military moves the government pays to ship.
