What is fleet vehicle transport and who is it for?

Fleet vehicle transport means repositioning several vehicles at once, often from a depot or return lot instead of a home, on a schedule set by a lease end or a rental cycle rather than by a person relocating.

Fleet vehicle transport is how we move vehicles your rental company, corporate fleet or government fleet owns or leases, and we handle it directly. Your vehicle ships on our standard open transport by default, with enclosed transport available for a higher-value unit. We arrange it as a broker, dispatching to a vetted, licensed and insured carrier in our network rather than running a truck of our own.

Rental car companies repositioning vehicles between markets, corporate and government fleet operators, and leasing companies moving vehicles at the end of a lease term or into remarketing.

  • enclosed transport

What does fleet vehicle transport cost?

Fleet and rental vehicles are priced like any Wave shipment, by distance, vehicle type and open or enclosed service. There is no separate fleet price table.

The reference ranges by distance band are on open car shipping and, for the higher-cost option, enclosed car shipping. Your fleet or rental rate, with any account-level terms, is set when you request a quote.

These are reference ranges, not a quote for your fleet's vehicles. Get a live, current price with a free quote.

Step by step

How does fleet vehicle transport work, step by step?

You submit each vehicle, we dispatch it to a vetted carrier, and it moves. The booking handles a depot address and, where relevant, an auction destination in place of a single home address.

  1. 01

Submit each vehicle's VIN, year, make, model and running condition, plus the pickup point (often a depot, rental-return lot or airport facility) and the delivery point (another regional lot, a customer address, or a remarketing auction) through the quote form.

  2. 02

We match each vehicle to a vetted, licensed and insured carrier already running that corridor as a broker. A multi-vehicle job may split across more than one carrier depending on route and timing.

  3. 03

If the delivery point is an auction, we coordinate arrival with that auction's own release process. ADESA, for one, runs a standing weekly Fleet/Lease sale for rental agencies and corporate and government fleets that we can deliver into, and our team is familiar with pickup and release procedures at Manheim, Copart, IAAI and ADESA generally.

  4. 04

At pickup and at delivery, the carrier's driver and your authorized representative walk the vehicle together and record its condition on the bill of lading, per vehicle. That record is what a damage claim gets built from afterward.

  5. 05

We invoice on our standard terms: no deposit required, paid by cash, credit card or bank transfer. Whether your account qualifies for the same kind of volume pricing a dealer account gets is not something we've published. Raise it directly when you request a quote.

  • auction car shipping

Full gate-pass and release-process detail for Manheim, Copart, IAAI and ADESA, relevant when a fleet vehicle's destination or origin is an auction lot.

  • bill of lading

What the pickup and delivery condition record is and why it matters for a fleet account tracking several VINs.

  • quote form

Where to submit a fleet or rental vehicle for a live quote.

Fleet transport and a single-vehicle shipment

Both use the same transport equipment and booking safeguards; fleet work adds multi-vehicle coordination, commercial locations, and a single operational point of contact.

When fleet vehicle transport is NOT the right choice

If you're a dealer moving dealership inventory through auction pickups, trades and customer deliveries, use dealer auto transport instead. If you're one person shipping one car, you don't need this page either.

Fleet vehicle transport is for an organization moving vehicles it owns or leases as part of its own operations: a rental company repositioning cars, a corporate or government fleet reassigning them, a lessor remarketing them at the end of a term. A dealer buying and reselling inventory is a different account shape, with its own program, and belongs on dealer auto transport instead. And if you're shipping your own single vehicle with no fleet or rental account involved, you get nothing extra here. The booking process and pricing are identical, so a standard quote is simpler.

What we do and don't do for fleet and rental vehicles

We arrange transport for your rental or fleet vehicles as a broker, matching each one to a carrier in our vetted network, and we don't operate the trucks that move them.

What we do
  • We arrange transport for rental car companies, corporate fleets and leasing companies moving vehicles they own or lease.
  • We book a pickup or delivery point at a depot, rental-return lot, airport facility, or any address you give us, not only a residential address.
  • We regularly transport vehicles from and to Manheim, Copart, IAAI and ADESA, relevant when your vehicle's origin or destination is an auction lot rather than a private address.
  • We move damaged or non-running fleet vehicles with specialized loading equipment; extra fees can apply for loading or unloading a vehicle that can't drive on its own.
  • We offer both open and enclosed transport for your fleet or rental vehicle, the same as for any other booking.
  • We record a per-vehicle condition report on the bill of lading at pickup and delivery, the same process for a fleet account tracking several VINs as for any single shipment.
What we do not do
  • We don't publish a fleet- or rental-specific price table; every fleet vehicle is priced on the same open or enclosed reference range as any shipment.
  • We don't state whether volume pricing extends to a fleet or rental account the same way it does for a dealer account. Raise it directly when you request a quote.
  • We describe Manheim, Copart, IAAI and ADESA only in plain, factual terms, for example that we transport from and to them, and never with language implying an exclusive relationship.
  • We don't own or run our own truck fleet. We're a broker, arranging transport through a network of vetted carriers.
  • Auction car shipping

Gate-pass and release-process detail for a fleet vehicle moving to or from an auction lot.

  • Dealer auto transport

Wave's dealer program, for dealership inventory rather than fleet or rental vehicles.

Fleet vehicle transport FAQs

Do you move rental and fleet vehicles?

Yes. We handle rental and fleet vehicle transport, and we arrange it as a broker rather than operating trucks of our own.

Is fleet vehicle transport a different service from your standard car shipping?

No. A rental or fleet company is a customer segment, not a separate transport product. Your vehicle still ships on open transport by default, with enclosed transport available as an option, the same as for any customer.

How much does it cost to ship fleet or rental vehicles?

There is no fleet-specific price table. Each vehicle is priced the same way as any shipment, by distance, vehicle type and open or enclosed service. See the reference ranges on open car shipping and enclosed car shipping, then get a live quote for your account rate.

Can you pick up vehicles from a depot, rental-return lot or airport instead of a home address?

Yes. Our quote form accepts any pickup or delivery address, including a fleet depot, a rental-return lot or an airport facility. It's not limited to a residential address.

Do you offer volume pricing for a fleet or rental account?

Not that we've published. We have negotiated volume pricing for our dealer program, but we haven't published equivalent terms for a fleet or rental account. Raise it directly when you request a quote.

Do you transport fleet vehicles to or from an auction for remarketing?

Yes. We transport vehicles from and to Manheim, Copart, IAAI and ADESA. ADESA, for one, runs a standing weekly Fleet/Lease sale open to rental agencies and corporate and government fleets. We dispatch to that delivery point the same way we book any auction address.

Can you transport a non-running or accident-damaged fleet vehicle?

Yes. We move damaged and non-running vehicles with specialized loading equipment. Extra fees can apply for loading or unloading a vehicle that can't drive on its own.

Is enclosed transport available for a high-value fleet vehicle?

Yes. Enclosed transport is available for any fleet or rental vehicle you want extra protection for, the same as for any other booking. See enclosed car shipping for what it adds and costs.
