What is corporate relocation car shipping and who is it for?

Corporate relocation car shipping moves an employee's personal vehicle to their new city. You don't pay before it moves, and you manage it the same way as a standard shipment.

Corporate relocation car shipping is how we move an employee's own vehicle to a new city as part of a job transfer. It is meant for you, the HR department or relocation manager arranging it, and not for someone relocating on their own initiative. Corporate moves are one of our service lines. A relocation booking differs from a standard one in who submits it and when it's paid. You, or someone in HR, can submit the job on the employee's behalf, and we perform the transport and then invoice your account rather than collect anything at booking. Everything else (the carrier, the trailer, the pricing, the condition report) is the same as any other shipment.

HR departments, relocation managers and third-party relocation management companies arranging vehicle transport for an employee's job transfer. It is not for an individual moving on their own initiative or a dealer moving inventory (see when this isn't the right choice below).

What does corporate relocation car shipping cost?

Each employee's vehicle is priced like any individual shipment, by distance, vehicle type and open or enclosed service, using the same reference ranges as any other customer. There is no corporate-relocation-specific price.

Relocating several employees in the same window means arranging several separate vehicle shipments, not one bulk order. Each vehicle still gets its own VIN, its own pickup and delivery address, and its own reference-range price for that lane and vehicle type. What you do get is invoicing: we perform the transport and then invoice, so you're not asked to put a card down before an employee's car has moved. That is the part most likely to matter to whoever signs off on a relocation, and it's worth knowing before the quote comes back.

Step by step

How does corporate relocation car shipping work, step by step?

You submit the vehicle, we dispatch it to a vetted carrier, and it moves. The process is the same whether the person submitting it is the relocating employee or someone in HR acting on their behalf.

  1. 01

Submit the vehicle's VIN, year, make and model, the pickup address (usually the employee's current home) and the delivery address (the new home or a company-designated address), and a requested pickup date through the quote form. These are the same fields any customer provides.

  2. 02

We match the vehicle to a carrier already vetted for that corridor as a broker rather than running our own trucks, and we check that the carrier's equipment and registrations are in order before dispatching it.

  3. 03

The carrier confirms a pickup window based on availability on that specific route once we have the job. We don't guarantee a fixed pickup date at the time of booking. That matters when the move is tied to a lease end-date or a job report-in date, so leave a buffer before a hard deadline.

  4. 04

A condition report is completed and signed at pickup and again at delivery, the way any vehicle-transport booking is documented. Whoever is physically present to hand off or receive the vehicle needs to be authorized to sign, which isn't automatically the HR contact or relocation manager who submitted the booking.

  5. 05

We perform the transport and then invoice your account. No deposit is taken before the vehicle is collected, and payment is by cash, credit card or bank transfer.

Corporate relocation car shipping vs a standard individual shipment

Corporate relocation car shipping differs from a standard individual shipment in who submits and pays for the booking, how firm the pickup date can be, and who's authorized to sign for the vehicle. The transport itself is priced and dispatched the same way.

When corporate relocation car shipping is NOT the right choice

If you're a dealership moving inventory between rooftops or off an auction lot, use dealer auto transport instead. If you're relocating yourself with no employer or relocation package involved, you don't need this page.

Our dealer program covers dealer trades, auction pickups and out-of-state customer deliveries. It's built around dealership inventory, negotiated volume pricing and a dealer's own portal, none of which applies to an employee's personal vehicle moving as part of a job transfer. If that's your booking, dealer auto transport is the closer match. If you're relocating yourself with no employer or relocation package involved, the booking process, pricing and payment mechanics are identical to any standard shipment, so going straight to a quote is simpler.

Where to go instead
  • Dealer auto transport

The closer match for dealership inventory moving between rooftops or off an auction lot, not an employee's personal vehicle.

  • Get a standard quote

For someone relocating without an employer or relocation package involved. The booking process is the same as any shipment.

What we do and don't do for a corporate relocation

We operate as a broker for your relocation shipment just as we do for any other booking: we line up the move and hand it to a carrier already vetted in our network, and we don't operate trucks of our own.

What we do
  • We arrange transport for an employee's personal vehicle as part of a job transfer, one of our named service lines.
  • We book each vehicle the way we book any standard shipment: VIN, pickup address, delivery address and a requested pickup date.
  • We offer both open car shipping and enclosed car shipping for a relocation vehicle, the same as for any other booking.
  • We can move a damaged or non-running vehicle using specialized loading equipment; extra fees may apply for a vehicle that can't be driven onto or off the carrier.
  • We accept a booking submitted by an HR contact or relocation manager on the employee's behalf, with no deposit required and payment by cash, credit card or bank transfer.
  • We perform the transport first and invoice your account afterwards.
What we do not do
  • We don't publish an integration with a relocation management company's own booking system. An RMC submitting a job today uses the same quote form as anyone else.
  • We don't guarantee a fixed pickup date at the time of booking. Pickup timing depends on carrier availability on that specific route, confirmed once you request a quote.

Corporate relocation car shipping FAQs

Do you handle corporate relocation car shipping?

Yes. Corporate moves are one of our service lines: we help get an employee's vehicle or vehicles moved to a new location.

Who pays for a corporate relocation car shipment, the employer or the employee?

Whoever holds the account. We perform the transport and then invoice, so the shipment is billed after the vehicle has moved rather than paid for at booking, and no deposit is taken. Payment is by cash, credit card or bank transfer.

Can an HR department or relocation manager book the shipment instead of the employee?

Yes, the quote form can be submitted by anyone with the vehicle's details and the pickup and delivery addresses, but the vehicle's owner, or whoever is physically present at pickup and delivery, still needs to be authorized to hand off or receive the vehicle.

Do you offer volume pricing for moving several employees' vehicles at once?

Volume pricing is a dealer-account arrangement, negotiated around dealership inventory rather than around employee relocations, and we haven't stated equivalent terms for a corporate relocation account. Ask on the quote request if several moves are landing in the same window.

How is corporate relocation car shipping different from dealer auto transport?

Corporate relocation car shipping moves an employee's own vehicle as part of a job transfer; dealer auto transport moves dealership inventory through auction pickups, dealer trades and customer deliveries, and comes with a dealer's own portal and negotiated volume pricing that don't apply to a personal vehicle.

Do you integrate with a relocation management company's booking system?

No. A relocation management company submitting a job uses the same quote form as any other customer, and there's no API or RMC portal to connect to today. Whether we take on RMC work as a standing arrangement is a question for the quote request.

How far in advance should a relocation vehicle shipment be booked?

We don't guarantee a fixed pickup date at the time of booking, because carrier availability on that specific route determines the pickup window. Booking with a buffer before a lease end-date, closing date or job report-in date reduces the risk of a mismatch between the relocation deadline and when a carrier can actually load the vehicle.

Can you ship more than one vehicle for the same relocating employee?

Yes, but each vehicle is booked and priced as its own separate shipment, with its own VIN and its own pickup and delivery addresses. Two cars leaving the same driveway on the same day are two jobs, and they may not travel on the same truck.
