Georgia Car Shipping
We arrange car shipping to and from Georgia as a licensed property broker. Georgia works both ways on our published routes: 1 route leaves Georgia for Florida and 1 route arrives from California. The Georgia-to-Florida route also splits into two paths, depending on where in Georgia the car is picked up.

How Georgia appears in these routes
Georgia ships out on 1 of the routes we publish, and receives on 1.

How much does it cost to ship a car to or from Georgia?
Georgia's two published routes sit in two very different distance bands, so your price depends on which route the car is taking, not on Georgia as a state.
We don't price a state, because a price needs two endpoints and a state only has one. Georgia to Florida is a short regional hop. California to Georgia is a coast-to-coast haul, more than three times the distance and three distance bands higher. This is a reference price range for this distance band, not a quote for your shipment. Your actual rate varies depending on: vehicle details, the specific pickup location, the delivery location, the timing of pickup and delivery, any additional services, driver availability, and other market conditions. For your real price, use the quote form. The route table links both lane pages, and each one has its own reference range.
Who handles registration paperwork for a car shipped to Georgia?
Registering your car, getting it inspected, or getting a VIN check done in Georgia is up to you. We don't handle any of it.
We arrange the carrier and the move. What a new Georgia resident does with the vehicle once it's off the truck is up to you; we don't handle it.
Which Georgia routes do we cover?
We publish reference ranges for 2 Georgia routes, one leaving the state and one arriving.
Georgia-to-Florida and California-to-Georgia make Georgia a two-way state in our published routes. Georgia to Florida is also the only lane we publish with two named paths, because where in Georgia the car starts decides which interstate the truck uses. The corridor section below covers both. Each route in the table links to its own page, with that route's distance, reference price range and transit time.
What route does the truck take to and from Georgia?
The Georgia-to-Florida run has two published paths (an inland route of 661 miles on I-75 for pickups around Atlanta, and a shorter coastal route of 482 miles on I-95 for pickups near Savannah), while California-to-Georgia is a single 2,176-mile haul on I-40, I-20, I-15 and I-10.
The inland path runs south on I-75 through Macon and Valdosta before crossing into Florida, and it's the one a pickup anywhere near Atlanta or the interstate corridor north and west of it will use. The coastal path is shorter and stays on I-95 through Savannah before reaching Jacksonville, and it's the realistic path for a pickup on the Georgia coast rather than a detour inland to reach I-75. California to Georgia is a much longer trip: it crosses Albuquerque and Memphis on its way east, and it is by far the longest Georgia route we publish.
Is there a busiest time of year to ship a car to Georgia?
We can't name a busiest or cheapest month for Georgia because we have no Georgia shipment-volume record to base one on.
We have no figure tying any time of year to our own Georgia bookings, so we make no seasonal claim for Georgia.
Does Wave Auto Transport ship cars to Georgia?
Yes. We arrange car shipping into and out of Georgia as a broker, and every move goes to a vetted, licensed, insured carrier in our network.
We have no office, terminal or yard in Georgia, and nobody on the ground there. Door-to-door means the driver gets as close to your address as a full-size carrier can legally and safely get. In parts of intown Atlanta with narrow, tree-lined streets, or in gated subdivisions in the metro area, a seventy-five-foot carrier may not reach the driveway itself, and the driver arranges a nearby wider street or a lot instead.
Where does Georgia sit in Wave's own shipping network?
Georgia is not one of our named volume corridors or a snowbird origin: it is a southern state, and nobody winters south from Atlanta.
Georgia to Florida can look like a snowbird lane, but the winter migration runs from the Northeast and the upper Midwest into the South, not from one southern state to another.
What port or auction infrastructure sits in Georgia?
Georgia has the Port of Brunswick's Colonel's Island Terminal, the nation's busiest auto port, and Manheim Atlanta, one of the auction locations we regularly pick up from and deliver to.
The Georgia Ports Authority's Colonel's Island Terminal handled 779,000 vehicle units in 2025, more than any other US port. Neither the port nor the auction changes what you pay: a Wave shipment is priced by distance and vehicle type, same as every other route. We have no agreement with Manheim. We pick up from and deliver to auctions like it regularly and work around the auction's own schedule.
Where Georgia's shipping volume sits
The Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell metropolitan statistical area holds 6,411,149 people and ranks 8 among the country's metro areas, and it's where Georgia's route distances are measured from.
Atlanta is the anchor city we measure from. We arrange shipping from anywhere in Georgia, not only from there. Atlanta also sits directly on the inland path of the Georgia-to-Florida lane. That is the path our road-mile and price figures use, not the shorter coastal one through Savannah.

Georgia car shipping FAQs
- Does Wave Auto Transport ship cars to Georgia?
- Yes. We arrange car shipping into and out of Georgia as a broker, and every move goes to a vetted, licensed, insured carrier in our network. We have no office, terminal or yard in Georgia, and nobody on the ground there.
- Which Georgia routes does Wave Auto Transport publish a reference range for?
- Two: Georgia to Florida and California to Georgia. The Georgia-to-Florida lane leaves the state and the California-to-Georgia lane arrives, so Georgia runs both ways in our published routes.
- Why does the Georgia-to-Florida route have two different distances listed?
- Because we publish it as two paths depending on where the car starts. A pickup around Atlanta runs the inland path on I-75, covering 661 miles; a pickup on the Georgia coast near Savannah runs the coastal path on I-95, covering only 482 miles. It's the only lane we publish with two named paths.
- How much does it cost to ship a car to or from Georgia?
- It depends on the route. The Georgia-to-Florida lane and the California-to-Georgia lane fall in very different distance bands, and each lane page has its own reference range and a link to the live quote form for a real price.
- What route does the truck take from California to Georgia?
- It runs on I-40, I-20, I-15 and I-10, crossing Albuquerque and Memphis, over 2,176 total miles. It is by far the longest published route touching Georgia.
- Can a car carrier reach my street in the Atlanta area?
- Usually, yes. Most Atlanta-area streets take a full-size carrier without trouble. In narrower, tree-lined intown streets or gated subdivisions, a seventy-five-foot rig may not fit, and the driver arranges a nearby wider street or lot instead. That's the normal outcome there, not a failed delivery.
- Can I ship a car to or from Georgia on an enclosed carrier?
- Yes. Enclosed transport is available on every route we broker, including both of Georgia's published routes and both paths of the Georgia-to-Florida lane.
- Is Georgia a snowbird origin state?
- No. Georgia is a southern state, and nobody winters south from Atlanta, so it's not in our snowbird origin set. Georgia is also not one of our named volume corridors.
- What port or auction infrastructure does Georgia have?
- The Port of Brunswick's Colonel's Island Terminal, the nation's busiest auto port (779,000 vehicle units in 2025), and Manheim Atlanta in College Park, one of the auction locations we regularly pick up from and deliver to.
